From Kendall, just 'For Your Black Heart'

Marvelous Kendall did this 35 minute mix, complete with a healthy dose of bangers + ass shakers::exclusively for DISCOBEDIENT.
If you like what you hear, drop him a line here... and come to Society, starting May 30th @ Duck Soup to hear more. I already have more exclusive mixes lined up that I'll be posting here soon, so subscribe to the RSS feed to stay hip to that jive.

DISCOBEDIENT - MIX #1 - Marvelous Kendall
*message me for tracklist

In other 'diamond in the rough' news...the new hotness is the fresh 12", 'For Your Black Heart', just released from 'The Manch' by The Sanfernando Sound on the UK based, Kompis Records('kompis' is swede for 'friend' - yaheard?).
The track is heavy with great vocal loops on each mix.
The Nilsson mix left me feeling like I was in a race against space, time, and a giant vocoder to survive a computer controlled, post-apocolyptic dance floor slaughter,(starring Lou Diamond Philips). Overall great buildups and crisp driving bass synths. While listening to the Club mix (which is exactly what it is to be used as, and LOUD) you may want to gaurd your neck as this track packs dual-panning-sonic sword weilding-cyborg samurais.
Buy the original + the other mixes!!! You won't be dissapointed.

Welcome.

So this is it. DISCOBEDIENT. My goal here is to simply have fun sharing with you what I believe to be the best in music, fashion, lifestyle, etc.., but more specifically it's about you, the reader. Hopefully you'll enjoy it and if not, I'd appreciate your feedback either way so please leave comments and subscribe to the blog!

So heeere we go... as you may have seen from a previous myspace blog entry that I migrated to this blog, you know I'm a big fan of Professor Murder.
Thanks to the kind folks @ Discobelle I copped a new mix they did with Caps & Jones, simply titled 'Mixed Tape', and I'm passing it on to you. It's a nice 20 minute or so mix with alot of fun blends. I suggest u bust out the ipod, spark one up and kick back for this one. Chock full o' smooth beats w/enough change-ups to keep you on your toes.

My renewed interest in dj'ing has fueled a nasty search for bangers that do not suck and are not tired of getting played every week. In that search I came across the Icelandic club thugs, Steed Lord. Grab these two durrty muthafuckin' remixes:
Steed Lord - Dirty Mutha (Crooker$ Remix)
Steed Lord - Dirty Mutha (Triple Zut Remix)

I'm prone to the Triple Zut mix cuz of the g'd up vocoder breakdown towards the middle/end of the track.

That's it for me today, kids. Again, please comment freely and subscribe.

P.S. Hit up Society, May 30th for the kick-off, where I'll be spinning a guest set along w/guest dj,The Commissioner, and resident dj/host, Marvelous Kendall. Seeya there!

where i've been, where i'm goin', what i'm givin

WHERE I WAS:

This past week was Art Basel (which you knew unless you were living under a rock) I was able to make it down on Thursday night and Saturday night and I had a blast.... I saw everything from a band of psycho-nudist-gothic-masquerading-gypsys to a couple dressed as apes dressed as a soldier and bride wearing powder white wigs... that's why I love art and the people that love art and who are art themselves. I did however miss out on seeing Crystal Castles on Thursday night and I'm kicking myself...  but in snooping around the interweb: Lazaro's remix of "air war" did console my broken heart.

WHERE I'LL BE:

This Friday - PS14 - OTR W/RAY MILIAN/MATT CA$H + MORE....

This Sunday - PAWN SHOP -  THE BRAVERY W/DJ STEVE AOKI(*see end of blog for note)

NOTE: Due to recent events such as this and this i've decided to help continue the trend of comedian heckling for the youtube generation, so when I go, I will try my best to start some shit w/Dave Attell and get him to either fight me or throw some racial slurs at me (any one have a video camera I can borrow?) What is he doing there? Doesn't really belong, but whatever I'm sure it will be a good time. For those of you who were lucky enough to get invites I will see you there....

WHAT I'M GIVING YOU FOR CHRISTMAS:

So Christmas is just 'round the bend and The Knife has sent us all a gift from straight from the winter wonderland that is Sweden.... It's the same "reindeer" track that was on thier self-titled 2001 album, but this one smells more like pine trees, roasting chestnuts, and your grandma's fruitcake. Bonus round = you can burn the song onto a disc and even include the cover art work to include in the cd case! How's that for a stocking stuffer?

There's something else under the tree for you...

I'm going to start adding my favorite podcasts to this blog... this week it's the mashuptown podcast , check out the Gwen Stefani/Erlend Oye/Pharrell/Kraftwerk mashup - YummyShelteredLife .... if you know my taste in music, you know mashups are my guilty pleasure... live with it homie.

Oh and here's the FBI's holiday gift to everyone.... they're going to completely invade your privacy. 'Tis the season for big brother to fuck off!

Viva l'Pickups.

the silversun pickups were on letterman tonight (yes, now i'm an official loser cuz i was sick at home on a friday night watching letterman) they played a great song called 'lazy eye' off of thier album that was released earlier this year. I have a thing for female bass players... I don't know why. You can listen to it on my profile or on thiers... here's a cool video they did:

and guess what?!?!?! they're touring and will be down here in march with Snow Patrol! who's coming with me!?

Viva Voce is another band they've toured with... and this song and video are pleasing to my eyes and ears:

if you're reading my blog for the first time and you haven't read the previous 2 entries, please do and if you are even slightly entertained by what you read and see, please subscribe or comment so I know people are reading... it makes me feel like sharing my thoughts is more worth it. Thanks.

The people are rioting.

dj's, dj's, dj's.... here's what the british call "a banger in the mouth" (david cross ref.... see arrested development)... you'll recognize the bass line.fast hearts (eve massacre mix)

... and if you're looking for some chill saturday afternoon rock while you look in the back of your closet for that vintage sweater.... listen to some RA RA RIOT. they hail from the frigid syracuse, ny and just so happen to be the newest label mates to one of my other fave bands right now, "P-MURDER" , as I so endearingly have nicknamed them... I instantly took a liking to them cuz they reminded me (cuz of the cello's) of an old favorite of mine, murder by death.  fyi... keep your eye on kanine records they are putting out shit that does not stink.

QUESTION:

does anyone know when saddam is gettin' strung up?.... i need to see it. not because i like it when people die, but i don't think i've ever seen a real hanging in my life time, so i guess this one would be the one to watch. hey, they found the wmd's... holy shit! bush was right all along!

Today I'm going to the mall to participate in good old fashioned american style consumption.

maybe i'll buy you something if you subscribe to my blog.

bitch.

So I've decided to start a real blog, simply called "esoteric". Here it is. I'll be putting them up every week and eventually, if this catches on, i'll make a real blog at blogspot.com. I'll keep you posted.

When I was in the hospital for a week I was given a cd player, some headphones and the most recent release from Beck - "The Information". It comes with stickers so you can design your own cd cover, and it also comes with a pretty dope dvd that has a video for every song on the album. They are all really low-budget and very interestingly artistic. I really respect Beck. Go purchase this cd.

Also when I was in the hospital I lost alot of weight... (now 28lbs and it's still dropping). I don't reccomend this method... I do however know someone who has the answer to all of our weight-loss problems... meet Mr. Pregnant.... I have a feeling I may somehow be related to him... like a long-lost 3rd cousin...

learn from this everyone... learn from this.

seacrest, out.
